No matter what you call it, it implies a person willing to take risks, try the untried, improve on the unproven. Bold people are open to new ideas, willing to try new things and imagine possibilities.

Chutzpah is the quality of audacity, for good or for bad. The Yiddish word has been “Americanized” to describe courage, determination and passion.

The Finnish use the word “sisu”. The term denotes stoic determination, resilience and hardiness. Sisu is the grim, gritty, white-knuckle form of courage; it is taking action against the odds, displaying courage and resoluteness in the face of danger.

You may not see yourself as bold, but maybe you are. Do you:

  • Lead and encourage others?
  • Initiate growth?
  • Try new things?
  • Listen and learn from the innovators?
  • Imagine possibilities that don’t yet exist?
  • Seek out new ideas?
  • Realize failure is a necessary part of the process?

Take stock of what you’ve accomplished this year and consider the potential for the future. 2025 is descending upon us quickly. Your feats may not be as newsworthy as leaping tall buildings in a single bound but acknowledging what you’ve accomplished has the power to change your life. As you do so, you may realize that you’ve improved many other lives as well.

The road is easier together,
