Linda here.
It’s one of life’s great ironies: right after Thanksgiving
and its celebration of gratitude and family, we go marathon shopping on Black Friday.
I suggest we sit this one out. Instead of fleeing our warm homes to join the hordes of shoppers in endless lines, slow down. Invite a family member or friend to enjoy a beverage with you and share in a reflection exercise. Here are some suggestions to start with.
List two things in each category you are grateful for:
- Friends
- Teachers
- Holidays
- Gadgets
Give two examples of:
- Things I’m good at
- Things I love to wear
- Things I take for granted
- Things that make me laugh
Share one example of:
- The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given
- A luxury I love to indulge in
- A surprising opportunity I’ve had
Grab another beverage and share your lists with each other. The amazing stories you hear and share will far outlast any Black Friday shopping trip.
